Résumé

This article investigates the notion of “the right to be forgotten” from the viewpoint of archival science in the French context. The positionning of the archivist with respect to oblivion is de facto ambiguous: he has to undertake his own part of responsibilities in the upbuilding of oblivion but he also is the one who, being the closest possible to the sources, could save somebody from falling into oblivion. If he works on the access to the sources motivated by a democracy concern of transparency, he is nonetheless at the same time a warrant of getting memory into peace.
