Literature, Texts and Knowledge

Master's degree jointly awarded by Sorbonne University, Université Sorbonne-Nouvelle, École normale supérieure - PSL, École nationale des chartes - PSL

This master's programme, combining courses from four Parisian institutions, provides education in literary research into medieval texts with an interdisciplinary approach within medieval specialism.

It is designed to develop:

  • Knowledge of the literature and literary history of the Middle Ages
  • Education on the culture and knowledge of the Middle Ages (history, history of art, philosophy, history of science)
  • The fundamental tools of medieval studies (medieval languages, philology, palaeography, codicology, etc.)
  • Education in literary research and linguistic analysis
  • Writing skills through the preparation of a dissertation supervised by a research professor

Prospects:

  • Research careers: doctorate in classics, with a special focus on medieval studies (literature, linguistics, philosophy, history, etc.).

Course entry requirements

Required qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Classics, Modern Literature, Language Sciences, History, Philosophy; equivalent qualification (students from preparatory classes, foreign students).
