Continuing training

The École Nationale des Chartes - PSL offers intensive courses, seminars, degree courses and on-demand training as part of continuing education.

Several semester-long courses included in the palaeographer archivist or masters' programmes can be taken by external students, individuals, or professionals individually or as part of continuing education financed by their employer.

VAE is a scheme that allows people to apply, under certain conditions, to ‘validate prior learning and experience to demonstrate all or part of the knowledge, skills and competencies required to secure a diploma or title issued in the name of the State’. It is governed for higher education establishments and vocational diplomas and qualifications by the French of Education (articles R.613-32 to R. 613-37), as set out in decree no. 2002-590 of 24 April 2002.

VAE is a pathway to obtaining a diploma in its own right, on a par with school, university, apprenticeship and continuing education. As a result, through VAE, a qualification is not merely the culmination of a course of study but also the acknowledgment of a professional career.

Continuing education at the École Nationale des Chartes meets the needs of professionals in archives, libraries, documentation centres, teacher-researchers, associations involved in promoting and protecting heritage and public or private companies.

Continuing education courses are also open to enthusiasts who wish to discover or rediscover history, heraldry, art history, genealogy, or even ancient scripts.

Every year, the apprenticeship tax enables you to make a financial contribution to the École Nationale des Chartes and help expand the range of professional training courses on offer.
