International candidates for the Diploma of Palaeographer Archivist

International students can be recruited by one of two methods for the diploma of archivist palaeographer:

  • Those who are nationals of a European Union Member State or a State that is part of the European Economic Area may apply for the entrance exam (access to first and second year) and, if successful, will benefit from the status of trainee civil servant (see full details in the entrance exam section).
  • All foreign students, regardless of nationality or European status, can apply at the School through the international selection procedure described here.

Students who have passed the international selection process follow the same curriculum as those who have passed the entrance exam for the palaeographer archivist diploma (attending courses and internships, writing a dissertation and obtaining the diploma). They are appointed ‘élèves à titre étranger’ by ministerial decree, and graduates become ‘archivistes paléographes à titre étranger’.

The only difference with the laureates of the entrance exam is their administrative status. Selected international students are not eligible for student civil servant trainee status or any of the benefits that this entails. As a result, they will not be entitled to the related remuneration.
