The LiBer project(Les Décades by Bersuire, first French translation of Livy's Histoire Romaine) examines the reception of Livy's Ab Urbe Condita in the Middle Ages, focusing on Pierre Bersuire's 14th century translation of three of the Decades into Romance language.

The LiBer project, funded by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche from 1 October 2021, October 2021, focuses on the reception of Livy's Ab Urbe Condita in the Middle Ages, specifically on Pierre Bersuire's 14th century translation of three of its decades into Romance language. The project focuses on the following aspects: the study of Bersuire's sources (Livy's manuscripts circulating in his time, Nicolas Trevet’s Latin commentary), a digital edition of two of the three  Decades translated by Bersuire, a study of the political vocabulary, the text's contribution to the development of historical science, and the influence of this translation in France, Italy, and Spain in the late Middle Ages.

The project is directed by Marylène Possamaï and attached to CIHAM-UMR 5648 (Lyon). The Centre Jean-Mabillon is one of the project’s two external partners with Sorbonne-Université. Frédéric Duval is one of two ANR scientific directors and co-supervises the two digital publishing doctorates of the Décades, including one attached to the Centre Jean-Mabillon.
